Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 27, 2026

1. About This Policy

Canada Solar Pro is a business name and operating brand of Deal Zone Auto Ltd., a corporation incorporated under the laws of the Province of British Columbia, with its registered office at 938 Nelson Street, Vancouver, BC V6Z 3A7. References to "Canada Solar Pro," "we," "us," and "our" in this Policy refer to Deal Zone Auto Ltd. operating as Canada Solar Pro.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you use canadasolarpro.com and related pages (the "Site") or submit a quote request.

Who we are. Canada Solar Pro is a lead-generation and matching platform. We connect Canadian homeowners with independent third-party solar installation companies and related service providers (collectively, "Installer Partners"). We are not a solar installer. We do not design, sell, install, finance, warranty, or service solar equipment.

How we make money. We are compensated by Installer Partners when we refer or match homeowners to them. By using our Site, you acknowledge that our service is funded by these matching arrangements.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use the Site or submit information through it. This Policy operates alongside our Terms of Use. Together they form the agreement governing your use of the Site.

  • Conduct analytics, measure marketing performance, and run advertising
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests
  • Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

4. How We Share and Sell Your Information

This is the core of our service. Please read this section carefully before submitting your information.

When you submit a quote request, we share your personal information with one or more Installer Partners and Service Partners, and we may receive compensation for that match. This is the primary purpose of the Site. By submitting your information, you expressly consent to this sharing and acknowledge that it is a commercial transaction.

4.1 Categories of recipients

  • Installer Partners: independent solar installation companies serving your area
  • Service Partners: financing providers, EnerGuide evaluators, equipment suppliers, and similar businesses where relevant to your quote
  • Service providers acting on our behalf: hosting, analytics, CRM, email and SMS delivery platforms, customer support tools
  • Marketing and advertising platforms: including Google, Meta, and similar (data is anonymized, pseudonymized, or aggregated where reasonably possible)
  • Professional advisors: legal, accounting, and compliance advisors
  • Legal recipients: law enforcement, courts, or regulators where required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights, property, or safety

4.2 What we share with Installer and Service Partners

We typically share: your name, contact information, property address and postal code, home ownership status, property type, electricity bill range, and timeline. We share only what is reasonably necessary to fulfill your quote request.

4.3 Once shared, information is controlled by the recipient

Each Installer Partner and Service Partner is an independent business with its own privacy practices, security controls, and legal obligations. Once we transfer your information to a partner, that partner becomes an independent controller of your information. We are not responsible for how Installer Partners, Service Partners, or other third parties collect, store, use, retain, or disclose your information after the transfer. You should review each partner's privacy policy directly.

4.4 We do not sell information unrelated to your quote request

We do not sell or share your personal information for purposes unrelated to matching you with solar service providers, except as described in this Policy or with your additional consent.

4.5 Opting out

You may opt out of having your information sold or shared in the future by contacting privacy@canadasolarpro.ca. See Section 11 for the full process.

Important: Opting out only stops future sharing. We cannot retract information that has already been transferred to Installer Partners or Service Partners. To request that those partners delete your information, you must contact them directly.

5. Communications & CASL Consent

When you submit a quote request through our Site, you provide express consent under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and applicable Canadian privacy laws to receive commercial electronic messages and other communications from Canada Solar Pro and our network of Installer Partners and Service Partners by:

  • Telephone calls (including by automated dialing systems)
  • SMS and text messages (message and data rates may apply)
  • Email

These communications may include solar quotes, consultation requests, follow-ups, program and incentive information, marketing offers, and service updates.

5.1 Sender identification

Every commercial electronic message will identify the sender (Canada Solar Pro or the specific Installer Partner or Service Partner) and provide a working unsubscribe mechanism, as required by CASL.

5.2 Withdrawing consent

You may withdraw consent at any time:

  • Email: click the "unsubscribe" link in any message
  • SMS: reply STOP to any message
  • Phone: ask to be removed during a call
  • All channels: email privacy@canadasolarpro.ca

We honour unsubscribe requests within 10 business days, as required by CASL. Note: unsubscribing from us does not automatically unsubscribe you from Installer Partners — you may need to contact each partner separately.

5.3 Transactional messages

Even after unsubscribing from marketing, you may continue to receive transactional or service-related messages necessary to fulfill your quote request (e.g., a partner contacting you to schedule the assessment you requested).

6. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies, pixels, web beacons, and similar technologies for:

  • Essential Site functionality (e.g., remembering form inputs)
  • Analytics (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Advertising and remarketing (e.g., Meta Pixel, Google Ads)
  • Conversion tracking and attribution

You can control cookies through your browser settings or, where presented, our cookie banner. Disabling cookies may impact Site functionality.

For details on third-party tools, refer to their own privacy policies (e.g., Google, Meta).

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including:

  • Fulfilling your quote request and reasonable follow-up
  • Maintaining records of consent and communications, as required by CASL
  • Complying with tax, accounting, regulatory, and legal obligations
  • Establishing or defending legal claims

Typical retention period: up to 3 years from your last interaction with us, longer where required by law. After this period, we will delete, anonymize, or de-identify your information.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including:

  • Encryption in transit (SSL/TLS)
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Vendor security reviews
  • Limited employee access on a need-to-know basis

No system is completely secure. Despite our safeguards, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information. You submit information at your own risk and are responsible for maintaining the security of your own devices and accounts.

If a privacy breach occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (and any applicable provincial regulator) as required by law.

9. Cross-Border Data Transfers

Our hosting, analytics, marketing, and communications providers may store or process information in Canada, the United States, or other countries. Information stored or processed outside Canada may be subject to the laws of those countries, including lawful access requests by foreign government authorities.

By using our Site and submitting information, you consent to these cross-border transfers. Where required by Quebec Law 25 or other provincial laws, we conduct privacy impact assessments before transferring personal information outside Canada and contractually require recipients to provide adequate protection.

10. Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for individuals 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information through the Site, contact privacy@canadasolarpro.ca and we will delete it.

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Withdraw consent for future collection, use, or sharing (subject to legal and contractual restrictions)

  • Lodge a complaint with our Privacy Officer or the applicable privacy regulator

11.1 How to exercise your rights

Email privacy@canadasolarpro.ca with:

  • Your full name and the email/phone you used to contact us

  • Enough information for us to verify your identity and locate your records

We will respond within 30 calendar days as required by PIPEDA. We may extend this period where permitted by law and will notify you if we do.

11.2 Verification

We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. We use the information you provide for verification only and do not use it for any other purpose.

11.3 Limits on rights

Withdrawing consent or requesting deletion may limit or end our ability to provide services to you. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing performed before withdrawal. We may retain information where required by law (e.g., tax records, CASL consent records).

11.4 No retaliation

We will not deny you services, charge different prices, or provide a different level of service because you exercised a privacy right.

12. Quebec Residents — Law 25

If you reside in Quebec, you have additional rights under Quebec's Law 25, including:

  • The right to data portability
  • The right to be informed about automated decision-making and to have a human review automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects
  • The right to deindexation in certain circumstances
  • The right to be informed before personal information is transferred outside Quebec

Contact our Privacy Officer (Section 15) for Quebec-specific requests. Note: at the time of this Policy, we do not currently use fully automated decision-making to evaluate quote requests. Matching is informed by data but reviewed by humans and Installer Partners.

13. Third-Party Websites

The Site may contain links to third-party websites, including those of Installer Partners. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or conduct of those third parties. Review each third party's privacy policy directly before submitting information to them.

14. Disputes With Installer Partners and Service Partners

We are a matching platform only. Any contract, agreement, work performed, dispute, complaint, or transaction between you and an Installer Partner or Service Partner is solely between you and that party. We are not a party to it.

The privacy practices, business conduct, workmanship, pricing, equipment, warranties, and customer service of Installer Partners and Service Partners are governed by their own policies, contracts, and applicable laws — not ours.

For our liability terms and dispute resolution provisions, see our Terms of Use.
